Jeroen, a Dutch national (1947) was CEO of Shell 2004-2009. Before that he was President of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company since 2000, having been a Managing Director since 1997. As CEO, Jeroen led Shell through rmajor change. After his CEO-ship he was Non-executive Director of Royal Dutch Shell 2009-2013.
He was Vice-Chairman and Senior Independent Director of Unilever from 2002 to 2011. He was on the Supervisory Boards of ING from 2009 and Chairman from 2011-2018 and of Royal Phillips from 2009 and Chairman from 2011-2021 and Chairman of the Supervisory Council of Technical University of Delft from 2013-2021. In October 2012 he became Chairman of the Rotterdam Climate Initiative. He was on the Governing Board (2012-2016) of the EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology). Jeroen is a Honorary Citizen of Singapore.
In 2009-2010 Jeroen was Vice-Chairman of a Group of Experts who advised for a new Strategic Concept for NATO. He was World President of the Society of Chemical Industry from 2002 to 2004. From 2000-2004 he served as a supervisory board member of The Dutch Central Bank. He was Advisor to Oman since 2009. He chaired ‘Platform Beta Techniek’, a governmental institute promoting education in science and technology from 2009 to 2019. And he chaired the Chairpersons Community of the WEF (World Economic Forum) from 2017 to 2020. Jeroen served on the Equinor Board (Norway) 2016-2022 and Vice Chair since 2018.
Presently Jeroen is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Royal Boskalis Westminster . He is involved in a number of smaller companies in various capacities.
Jeroen also has various roles in several foundations and charities.
